NRC Survey

The National Research Council (NRC) has launched a study to assess the quality and characteristics of US research-doctorate programs.  At UC Santa Cruz, the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs has been designated the Institutional Coordinator and, in that role, will oversee the data collection and submit the campus responses to the NRC.

NRC anticipates publishing the final data along with their analysis on a public website in 2007-08.

The NRC study will consist of:

  • Quantitative data collection through questionnaires administered to institutions, programs, faculty, and admitted-to-candidacy students;
  • Supplemental program data collection about publications, citations, and dissertation keywords; and
  • The design and construction of program ratings.
