The Strategic Communications Committee (SCC) is the leadership
group that considers that considers campuswide communications strategy and
recommends policy to the offices of the Chancellor and Campus Provost and
Executive Vice Chancellor (CPEVC). The SCC evaluates both internal and external
communication, assesses communications vehicles, and recommends plans for
effective communications about topics that are important to campus progress.
The
Committee also helps identify and present to the Chancellor and CPEVC those issues that are of
concern to a range of constituencies, both on and off campus. The SCC is
expected to solicit, and incorporate into the materials prepared for the
Chancellor and CPEVC, the
views of relevant Senate committees and administrative advisory committees.
Additionally, the Committee provides recommendations to and receives input from
the Campus Communications Council regarding implementation of an integrated/campuswide
approach to strategic communications.
Specific topics for 2006-07 include
Internal communications:
- Presenting and promoting the academic plan
- Budget and academic priorities
- Principles of Community
- Student activism
- Building excellence and diversity
- Building a culture of philanthropy
- Preparing for a comprehensive campaign
External communications:
- Promoting UCSC's distinctions and achievements
- Enhancing and refining UCSC's overall national and international positioning and brand
promise
For questions about the SCC
