The following reports organized by students’ majors (many of which were formerly compiled as part of the Fall Fact Sheets), provide information about the declared and/or proposed majors of undergraduate and graduate students. Reports are available both for new students and for all enrolled students, and are separated into three timeframe categories: Fall Quarter; Academic Year (Three Quarter Average); and multi-year Historical Summaries. Depending on their purpose, major reports provide counts based on Headcounts and/or Major Counts. Some reports count double and triple majors fractionally in each/all of their majors (and are labeled "HC" for equivalent headcounts). For example, a student with a double major in Psychology and English would be counted as 0.5 for Psychology and 0.5 for English. The totals from the HC major reports are equivalent to the total number of students enrolled. Other majors reports represent multiple majors as a full count in each/all of their majors (and are labeled "MC" for major counts). For example, a student with a double major in Psychology and English would have one major count for Psychology and one for English. Frequency data on major counts is provided in the reports below. In addition, information is also available on graduation rates and time-to-degree by major as well as patterns of student migration between majors (both within and between divisions) on the Retention and Graduation portion of this website. Undergraduate students’ opinions about their majors collected on the Majors Survey are available in the Student Surveys area. Information on student demographics, degree recipients, and retention and graduation rates by student demographic characteristics are available on the Student Characteristics, Degrees, and Retention and Graduation areas of the website.
