Academic Support Planning Committee.
Agenda for Meeting June 5, 2001
12:00 - 2:00

307 Kerr Hall
(lunch will be provided)

I. Chair's items (5 minutes)

II. Summer Operations. Please review the attached rough draft entitled "Student Affairs in State-Funded Summer Session," which provides a description of the issues the managers of academic support services will have to resolve before entering into state-funded summer operation. At the end of that paper, you will find a set of principles for determining appropriate levels of service delivery during the summer. Which of those principles would the committee recommend to service providers as guidelines for determining service delivery levels?

III. Data Warehouse Review. Linda Kittle, Director of Strategic Planning, will
visit the committee to discuss new directions for the campus data warehouse:
Input on strategic direction - consider benefits of each of 3-4 options
Input on a proposed structure for continued development (esp. setting
priorities) Input on how to address policy decisions on issues such as access

IV. Student Profile. This item follows closely from the previous item and may
influence the direction of the data warehouse project. Please review the
attached draft entitled "Student Profile." The profile is an effort to
collect in a single document all the major dynamics of the UCSC student
population. If the profile is brought to fruition, it would reside in a
prominent place on the campus website, providing information to such
audiences as: prospective students, parents, public relations, press,
admissions and other committees, counselors, faculty, and administrators.
Each bullet in the profile would be linked to its source report or database,
thereby enabling users to drill down to the level of detail most useful to
their particular needs. The profile will likely have two versions: one for
the general public, and another featuring some sensitive items more
appropriate for restricted access by campus policy analysts. Does the
committee feel this concept is worth pursuing? What items might be added?
Does the inclusion of any particular items make any of our members nervous?

V. Future items:

1. Discussion of access issues associated with disabled students using
campus libraries and other facilities

2. Future Meetings????
