II. Network Rate
Structure Report – Bill
Hyder
Bill presented the group with a draft Report of the Networking Services and Rates Subcommittee. The report was written to effectively address needs in divisions throughout the university.
ITC will offer any feedback on the report to Bill Hyder, which will then be discussed and integrated, before the report moves forward to PAC. At a future meeting, ITC will determine the structure and charge of the Networking Rates and Services Advisory Committee. This committee will not only advise CATS, but the campus as a whole and report to ITC and the VP IT, who will then provide advice to PAC and the Provost.
III. Student
Portal – Mark Cianca/David Rosen
Mark and David presented the group with an overview, a recent press release, and a guided tour of the new student portal. The student portal is a prototype for the self-service portion of the 70-20-10 service delivery architecture that AIS will deliver. Eventually there will be a comprehensive university portal that will specifically cater to students, staff, faculty, alumni and visitors.
The Student Portal has been available for the last few weeks to nearly 500 students who have offered a great deal of positive feedback. This project will be unveiled to all students on May 23, 2002. Select staff and College Preceptors will then be able to update student calendars and send important notices to specific groups of students. Regular functional updates to the Portal will be released every six months; bug fixes will be released as needed.
V. Next Meeting: Thursday, May 30, 2002, 10:00-12:00, 481 McHenry Library
