II. AIS
Update
The AIS project is currently in the fitgap stage, determining what people need and what the software offers. A 3 stage RFP is going out today. The first stage is a stripped down base cost for interfaces, database, conversions, etc. The second is critical modifications that we need when the project goes live. The third stage is 55 items that constituents have indicated they would like when the system is rolled out. Peoplesoft has a short time to respond to the RFP, and a response is expected by late March.
III. Network & Telecommunications Services
Advisory Committee Report
Phillip Stark brought a list of questions from the Computing Coordinators regarding the NTSAC report. Below are a list of responses and clarifications:
§ The first question focused on classroom, library and lab jacks, and whether they would fall under a different pay structure then administrative jacks. Funding for these types of jacks could be a part of a student IT fee.
§ The proposed redistribution of funds between units is permanent.
§ No units can install a freelance hub, CATS needs to install it. If an independent hub causes a problem, it can be unplugged.
§ Some CCU funds could offset transition costs when a request is made for more jacks in a unit.
§ Every year the Rates and Recharges Committee will determine the cost per FTE.
The plausibility of a student IT fee was briefly discussed. It was noted that a referendum isn’t likely to get approval by students, and that a fee may have to be mandated and follow UC protocol.
The NTS group will meet again on February 3rd to resolve any other project issues. ITC will finalize the project at the next meeting on February 7th. The proposal will be presented to PAC in the near future.
IV. Next Meeting: February 7, 2003, 10:00-12:00, 481 McHenry Library
