Undergraduate retention and graduation—why some undergraduates stay enrolled in an institution to complete a degree while others transfer, stop out, or drop out—is one of the most well-studied areas of higher education research.

This site provides information about retention and graduation at UC Santa Cruz, including:

  • a primer on retention and graduation issues in Q&A format;
  • statistics about rates at UCSC and at comparable institutions; and
  • links to higher education research.

A 2006 campus forum framed the issues that are the subject of this website.  The Committee on Educational Policy (CEP) issued its report in spring 2006.
